Back to the roots: upcycling

Two weeks of bad weather ahead, a heavy cold, temperatures far below the ideal , at the end of new business and inspired by TRASH deluxe, time was come to take up the upcycling thing again. Back to the roots of the story ... cradle to cradle, after all there is cycling in upcycling.

And also inspired by the question how girls can look cool on a bike without being sporty, these wrecks were parked in my garage, looked at in a very suspicious way by my spouse.  Lets see what  we can make of them, using as little as possible new material.

Not very bling bling but superlight, rooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllls incredibily and so in-to-the-hipe if you are the first :)

Speciale manier van spaken met 1 rechte en 2 kruisende spaken in 6 trio's van 3.
Superlicht met prima componenten.

Bianchi 928 renewal part I

After 8 years of almost maintenance free biking a complete renewal was in place

Isis bracket replaced by Campagnolo power torque
Veloce cranset
Veloce chain and derailleur wheels
Front derailleur
Bottle cage
Brake pads
Versus saddle
Brake and derailleur housing and cables
New bearings
Campagnolo cable adjusters

Still to come replacing  Vento front and rear wheel

Remains the headset, stem and steer

Must be an improvement but the rider is ..... still the same. So progress will be marginal but .... it for sure runs smooth and looks better.

 

Roze fixie

Eindelijk mijn roze fixie on line. Het kader heb ik gevonden langs de vaart Leuven - Mechelen en vrij naar een artikel in de Standaard magazine, heb ik er een fixie van gemaakt. Eerst voor mijn dochter maar meer en meer is het mijn eigen fixie. Special: de roze crancks en ketting (Sturmey Archer) en het Miche achterwiel, ook de cranckas is vervangen. Maakt het wel iets kostelijker dan oorspronkelijk gedacht, maar hij rijd zeer strak. Later heb ik er een Brooks zadel op geplaatst (7 euro tweedehands).
